Who love presents? I’m sure everyone does! That includes me, of course.
However, there’s something way more important than presents and why I strongly advocate you to be aware of it — that is the gift of presence. The festive season has dawned on us, and the spirit of giving is here. Many of us are pressured to find our loved ones the ‘perfect gift’. We spent more time searching for presents with a huge price tag on them than we do with the people we care and love. Weird isn’t it?
Small and simple gestures can be far more meaningful than a hefty price tag. In the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, research has shown that small acts of kindness, not grand overtures, make people feel most loved and supported.
So, let us remember in this season or any other festive, that presence means more than presents. The power of spending time with one another is a gift we can give at any moment.
